Avenue of Volcanoes (Ecuador) Trek 2025

Join us for an unforgettable 9-day fundraising trek through Ecuador’s breathtaking “Avenue of Volcanoes” in November 2025 – with optional extension to the Galapagos Islands! Challenge yourself whilst raising valuable funds to help support people in Jersey living with dementia.

The Avenue of the Volcanoes, named in the early 1800s by famous explorer Humboldt, is a volcano-lined corridor stretching south through Ecuador. Many of these towering snow-capped cones are still active.

Between the volcanoes lies the dramatic Toachi canyon, flanked by lush green valleys of tropical forest and farmland dotted with Indigenous villages; this trek explores this diverse landscape, criss-crossing the steep-sided canyon on ancient trading paths rising over 3000m. Reach the stunning Quilotoa (3870m), a vast volcanic crater known for its vivid turquoise lagoon.

With time to acclimatise to the altitude, this is a challenging trek through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes full of colourful Andean culture. There will also be time to explore Quito’s colonial old town and enjoy natural hot springs.

  • Dates: 15th – 23rd November 2025
  • Cost: £500 registration fee, plus £2,099 due 8 weeks before departure.

(Flights from London, accommodation, meals and transfers throughout the trek are included. Jersey flights are not included.).

  • Minimum sponsorship required per person: £1,700.

All money raised will help support people in Jersey living with dementia and their families and carers.

I signed up to Dementia Jersey’s Kilimanjaro trek for two reasons – to tick off a bucket list item and, of course, to raise money for Dementia Jersey, a charity close to my heart – but I never expected to get as much out of the trip as I did. From the get-go Discover Adventure were on hand to help with any questions, and the team leader on the trek itself, Duncan, was brilliant. The local team on the ground looked after us fantastically well, too, from the guides to the porters and everyone in between – we really couldn’t have done it without them! The whole experience, whilst challenging at times, was made easier by the wonderful group of people I met and I truly feel that I have made friends for life. I absolutely loved this trip and I’m already thinking about signing up to the next one!

The trip to Machu Picchu with Dementia Jersey was once in a lifetime. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet and become friends with people from all different walks of life. Together over the course of just a week we joined together and challenged ourselves and overcame many obstacles, leaving the experience with wonderful memories.

The coordination and the support during the whole experience was gold standard. If you’re looking for a chance to see the world, challenge yourself, make new friends, and support a great charity then I see no better place to do so than on the next Dementia Jersey expedition!
