Video Spotlight: Understanding and supporting behaviour changes in dementia

As dementia progresses, you might notice changes in a person’s behaviour - perhaps more anxiety, restlessness, or repeated questions. These changes can be confusing or upsetting, both for the person living with dementia and for those who care for them.

In our latest video, Diane from Dementia Jersey explores how these behaviours often reflect unmet needs or emotions — and how you can respond with empathy and understanding.

And the 2025 Mike Tomkinson Award goes to...

Each year Dementia Jersey presents the Mike Tomkinson Trophy to an individual, or individuals who have made a significant contribution towards supporting people with dementia.

🏆 This year the award was presented to an extremely worthy individual - our amazing art teacher, Lucy Blackmore.

Lucy has been leading our Art Exploration class for over 10 years, designing sessions specifically for people with dementia, their families, and carers. We’re so lucky to have her! 💜

Lucy has also been nominated for a Pride of Jersey Award this year, in the Teacher of the Year category! Well done Lucy🌟
We’re very grateful to Landlord Martin Vasey, the amazing staff, and generous customers of The Pembroke Pub, who raised an incredible £1,174 through a variety of fundraising activities, including Football Cards, a Meat Raffle, and a Bingo Night 🌟

Each month, The Pembroke Pub selects a charity to support through fun and engaging events, and we were honoured to be chosen.
