Hive of activity down at our #ForgetMeNotPlot earlier this month. We hosted our Friday Meeting Place Project at the allotment and members were able to bring their family and friends down and enjoy some tea and scones whilst pottering round the plot 🌸
It was the first session of our Summer Programme - a project funded by @governmentofjersey Community Connecters fund.
Each week (weather permitting!) Dementia Jersey host a different activity at the allotment.

Do you care for someone with dementia? Join us for our Evening Carers` Support Meeting this Wednesday at Osprey House.
Our Carers` Support Meetings are an opportunity to connect with others who share similar experiences and give mutual support and encouragement.

Our Art Exploration went to Pallot Steam and Motor Museum in Trinity last week to get inspiration for our Art Exhibition ‘Our Day Out’ happening in September. A wonderful time was had by all reminiscing about days out and the vehicles we drove.

Big news! The Government`s Jersey Dementia Strategy has just been launched, providing a roadmap for how Jersey can provide better support to those living with dementia.
Hundreds of families shared their personal struggles with us to help shape the strategy which means the priorities are all things you raised as being important.
You can read Dementia Jersey`s summary of the strategy on our website here https://dementia.je/jersey-dementia-strategy/ - our short summary is written from Dementia Jersey’s perspective and provides a brief, top level review of the strategy.
Or, if you want to dive into the details, you will also find the official full version released by the Government of Jersey and the implementation plan for year 1.
Together, we can create a brighter future —one where dementia care is compassionate, effective, and responsive to the needs of our community.

FREE DEMENTIA TRAINING FOR FAMILY CARERS – AUGUST 2024
Calling all family carers! We have a limited amount of spaces left on our Dementia Information Programme (DIP) session in August.
Our August sessions will run every Tuesday throughout the month. We have morning or evening session times, depending on what better suits your schedule.
What is DIP? This 4-week interactive course is designed specifically for family carers, providing valuable insights, advice, and practical tips to help you better support a person living with dementia at home. Find out more and book your space via www.dementia.je/DIP

A few snaps from our Walk `n` Talk visit to Hamptonne last week.
We had a lovely afternoon visiting the site. We met "Rose" the Bouonfemme and she told us about life in 1600s. We fed the chickens 🐓, saw the calves, sheep, and rabbits 🐇, plus Pierre, Marie & Clement, the piggies 🐷
Huge thanks to all the wonderful @jerseyheritage staff, especially Jo and Chris. Les Mèrvelles were wonderful!

📍 NEW LOCATION FOR THE MEETING PLACE PROJECT: ST MARTIN!
Many people living with dementia want to find ways to cope with their symptoms, stay independent and stimulate their thinking skills. This is why we’ve created The Meeting Place Project.
What is The Meeting Place Project?
- A weekly group for people with mild symptoms and a diagnosis of dementia.
- A place to meet others with dementia for advice and support.
- An opportunity to take part in brain stimulating activities, including language and number games, discussions about living with dementia, and light exercise.
We would also be interested in hearing from volunteers who might be able to help with setting up the room, making drinks and getting involved with the brain training activities.

☕️ Join us for a coffee morning at St Clement Parish Hall on Thursday 23rd May from 10:00 to 12:00! This event is for any islanders who have received a diagnosis of dementia or are a family member or carer of someone living with dementia. Whatever parish you live in, you are welcome to attend 💜
The coffee morning, kindly hosted by Parish of St Clement will give you a chance to meet our Dementia Advisors, who will be available to answer your questions, provide guidance, and offer support. You will also be able to explore our information stand to learn more about the support and services we provide such as our therapeutic activities.
