Our group of 18 trekkers ready to embark on their Kilimanjaro adventure 🏔️✨
A huge shoutout to them all for taking on this challenge to help raise funds for Dementia Jersey 💜 So far the group have raised an incredible £30,000. The trip itself is self funded by the trekkers so all their fundraising efforts will go towards supporting people in Jersey affected by dementia.
Let’s show them our support and cheer them on as they climb to new heights!

Join us on Sunday 22nd September at 10.30am for our annual Memory Walk to remember loved ones and to show support for those living with dementia.
Our Memory Walk will start at Le Fregate and finish at St Aubin. This flat 5k walk is for all ages and abilities to unite together to raise awareness and funds to help support the 1,600 islanders with dementia, their carers, and their family. Although traditionally a walk, you are more than welcome to run, jog or cycle. Pets are very welcome too!
You can also get involved by doing your own Memory Walk. Choose your own route on a day that suits you best. Your walk, your way!

This wonderful painting is part of the collection from our `Our Day Out` exhibition which is taking place this Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September, 10am-4pm at Greve de Lecq Barracks
The exhibition is in collaboration with ArtHouse Jersey and showcases the talented work from our Art Exploration groups. The artwork reflects memories from their past as well as from a recent group excursion to the Pallot Steam Motor Museum.
The artist of this painting comments: "When I was 19 and commuting to work on my scooter I would have a view of Mount Kilimanjaro on one side and Mount Kenya on the other. This memory was bought back to me when Dementia Jersey announced they were going to climb Kilimanjaro this September."
If you`re free this weekend, please pop along to our exhibition and enjoy the wonderful art. We`ll be offering teas, coffees, and cakes for a small donation.

Exciting News! We`re Moving!
After spending some time in our temporary premises, we`re thrilled to announce that we`ve found our forever home! In November, we`ll be moving to 74 Halkett Place (AKA the old Jersey Mutual building), opposite Bean Around the World, near the library.
Our new office will feature a dedicated reception area, a fancy new coffee machine, counselling rooms, meeting rooms, and plenty of space for everyone. We`re excited to welcome more people for dementia advice and support while continuing to offer activities in various locations around the island.

‘OUR DAY OUT’ DEMENTIA JERSEY POP UP EXHIBITION AT GREVE DE LECQ BARRACKS!
We`re thrilled to announce our `Our Day Out` exhibition, in collaboration with @arthousejersey, which is taking place on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September 2024.
This charming exhibition showcases the talented work of participants from our Art Exploration groups. The artwork in the exhibition is inspired by the group`s excursion to the Pallot Steam & Motor Museum in Trinity in June. Their artwork reflects the memories and emotions evoked by their day out and other cherished outings from their past.

Did you know? Gentle exercise can have a positive impact on people living with dementia 🚶🏽🧘🏻♀️
Our S Club activity is made up of 4 gentle exercise based activities which we rotate on a weekly basis. All groups are led by qualified instructors and are designed for those living with dementia and their carers.

Our Summer Cycle Challenge is back! 🌞🚲
Cycle 100 miles this September and help people in Jersey living with dementia. You have 30 days to get your miles in, making this the perfect challenge for all to enjoy. You can take the whole month or smash your miles out in 1 day!

Hive of activity down at our #ForgetMeNotPlot earlier this month. We hosted our Friday Meeting Place Project at the allotment and members were able to bring their family and friends down and enjoy some tea and scones whilst pottering round the plot 🌸
It was the first session of our Summer Programme - a project funded by @governmentofjersey Community Connecters fund.
Each week (weather permitting!) Dementia Jersey host a different activity at the allotment.

Big news! The Government`s Jersey Dementia Strategy has just been launched, providing a roadmap for how Jersey can provide better support to those living with dementia.
Hundreds of families shared their personal struggles with us to help shape the strategy which means the priorities are all things you raised as being important.
You can read Dementia Jersey`s summary of the strategy on our website here https://dementia.je/jersey-dementia-strategy/ - our short summary is written from Dementia Jersey’s perspective and provides a brief, top level review of the strategy.
Or, if you want to dive into the details, you will also find the official full version released by the Government of Jersey and the implementation plan for year 1.

Our August sessions will run every Tuesday throughout the month. We have morning or evening session times, depending on what better suits your schedule.

A few snaps from our Walk `n` Talk visit to Hamptonne last week.
We had a lovely afternoon visiting the site. We met "Rose" the Bouonfemme and she told us about life in 1600s. We fed the chickens 🐓, saw the calves, sheep, and rabbits 🐇, plus Pierre, Marie & Clement, the piggies 🐷
