Do you want to challenge yourself, explore a new continent and make a difference to those living with dementia? Join our epic 10-day challenge climbing Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa and one of the world’s seven summits!

Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano located in Tanzania, and the highest mountain in Africa. It is 5,895 meters above sea level and offers spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes.

Its snow-capped summit rises high above the dusty African plains; huge permanent glaciers flow down from the summit, spectacular views and beautiful ice formations are the reward for pushing your limits both physically and mentally.

Our trek will take the Machame route, allowing gradual acclimatisation to the altitude and an excellent chance of reaching the summit. We pass through thick forest, moorland and scree en route to Uhuru Peak, the highest point. This is a challenging trek at altitude, climbing one of the most impressive mountains in the world.

  • Dates: 7th – 16th September 2024.
  • Cost: £500 registration fee, plus £2,849 due 8 weeks before departure.

(Flights from London, accommodation, meals and transfers throughout the trek are included).

  • Minimum sponsorship required per person: £1,700.

All money raised will help support people in Jersey living with dementia and their families and carers.

By joining our trek, you will not only fulfil a personal goal, but also support a worthwhile cause, raising funds and awareness for Dementia Jersey. Don’t miss this chance to experience the adventure of a lifetime and help people in Jersey living with dementia.

The trip to Machu Picchu with Dementia Jersey was once in a lifetime. I enjoyed the opportunity to meet and become friends with people from all different walks of life. Together over the course of just a week we joined together and challenged ourselves and overcame many obstacles, leaving the experience with wonderful memories.

The coordination and the support during the whole experience was gold standard. If you’re looking for a chance to see the world, challenge yourself, make new friends, and support a great charity then I see no better place to do so than on the next Dementia Jersey expedition!
