Dr Sian Wareing-Jones
Clinical Lead and Counsellor
About me
Sian first joined the team at Dementia Jersey (formerly Jersey Alzheimer’s Association) in 2009 and led the team of Dementia Advisors and offered a bespoke counselling service for people with dementia and their families.
In 2023 Sian took on the interim role of Lead Partner working with the Government of Jersey to write the Dementia Strategy for Jersey, which is expected to be published in 2024. She has now returned to work at Dementia Jersey as the Clinical Lead and Counsellor.
What I love about my job
From years of experience working alongside people with dementia and their families and friends, and listening to them share the difficulties and challenges they experience, I knew changes were necessary. And from the very clear trends in local and national data we knew that the number of people with dementia was rising significantly, also telling us that we really did need to do some things differently.
For such changes to happen I believed Jersey urgently needed a Dementia Strategy so I was pleased to be part of the team working on this essential document which I believe will be a significant tool for change.
Now back at Dementia Jersey, I am committed to being part of this incredible team which I believe will be instrumental in making changes for the better for people with dementia and their families and friends.
