Our corporate volunteers are committed to helping make Jersey a more dementia friendly island. We partner with companies of all sizes and industries and can offer tailored volunteer opportunities to fit your organisation.

There are plenty of ways your company can get involved for example:

Bucket Shaking

Bucket shaking is not only a source of income but also a way to engage with the general public to raise awareness of Dementia Jersey and the role we play within the community. We’re looking for enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a willingness to engage with the general public – if you think your team are up for the challenge, we’ve got plenty of buckets and tins to go around! It’s the perfect opportunity to support Dementia Jersey whilst meeting new people and getting the satisfaction of knowing you’re making a difference.

Gardening

Leave the world of work for a rewarding and fun day out at our new allotment in St Clement. The purpose of this space is to create an accessible allotment with sensory elements where people with dementia who are keen gardeners can visit during spring/summer and continue to do what they have always loved to do. We’ll need volunteers to help with the maintenance of the plot, with plenty of varied and practical outdoor tasks to get stuck into, including digging, planting, potting, watering painting or sorting out the shed. This is not only a rewarding and fulfilling opportunity but also makes for a good team-building exercise.

Counting Cash

Good with numbers? We often have busy periods, such as Dementia Awareness Week in May when we have lots of collection tins and buckets out in various locations that then get returned to us to be counted. Having volunteers to help count the coins and notes would be a great help to us.

Packing Christmas cards

To save money we often elect to do the Christmas card packing ourselves which involves putting the cards in polybags. It’s hugely helpful to have helping hands do this work, even if its during a lunch hour.
