Dementia Jersey Boost your Brain Keep Connected

One of the main messages from our Boost Your brain campaign is to keep connected.

Social activity may help prevent or delay dementia by reducing stress, enhancing mood, and providing mental stimulation. Social activity can also provide emotional support and a sense of belonging. Some examples of social activities that can help with maintain brain health include joining clubs or groups, volunteering, visiting friends or family, or taking educational and vocational classes.

Keeping connected is all about maintaining social connections and engaging with others. Being socially engaged is cognitively stimulating and therefore good for brain health. To keep connected we recommend you:

  • Stay in touch with family and friends: Regularly connect with family and friends, whether it’s through phone calls, video chats, or in-person visits.
  • Join a club or group: Joining a club or group that interests you can help you meet new people and maintain social connections.
  • Volunteer: Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and meet new people.
