Reframing Dementia

I was born in Jersey shortly after World War II and lived with my parents and siblings in West Park. As a child, I loved exploring the outdoors and being adventurous, and I have continued to have active hobbies throughout my life, such as yoga and sea-swimming. I have even represented Jersey in bowling at the Commonwealth Games!

I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2023. I feel it’s important not to be ashamed of this, and to challenge stigma and be open.
Today, I still keep busy, using the bus to take myself out and about. I attend the

Meeting Place Project with Dementia Jersey and generally enjoy chatting to people. I am still part of the golfing community – and love nothing more than spending time with my (large!) family.
