Dementia Support Line
Strategic Direction 2026 – 2028
We are taking the next major step towards making Jersey a truly dementia-friendly island. At the heart of our strategy is a clear commitment: support from the start, recognising that early, compassionate and person-centred support is critical following a diagnosis.
Our strategy sets out how we will strengthen and expand support over the next three years, ensuring no one faces dementia alone.
It aims to ensure the following outcomes:
-
People with dementia feel empowered and connected to their communities
-
Carers feel supported, confident and able to maintain their own wellbeing
-
The public better understands dementia, with reduced stigma
-
Professionals have the knowledge and systems to deliver high-quality care
-
Public services are accessible and inclusive.
We recognise that people affected by dementia still face barriers, from gaps in post-diagnostic support to a lack of understanding in everyday environments. This strategy focuses on addressing these challenges through stronger services, partnerships and influence.
Over the next three years, we will:
-
Provide a Holistic Needs Assessment for everyone diagnosed and an assessment for their main carer too
-
Expand support for carers through training, peer support and wellbeing activities
-
Grow therapeutic and community programmes, including the Meeting Place Project
-
Increase awareness and reduce stigma through campaigns like Boost Your Brain and Reframing Dementia
-
Strengthen training and partnerships to improve care across services
-
Support the development of dementia-friendly businesses, services and spaces.
By focusing on support from the start and throughout the dementia journey, we will help build a more compassionate, inclusive Jersey.
