It’s a free, family-friendly way to test your brain and get some fresh air. Our challenge spreads the important message that dementia isn’t an inevitable part of old age for many of us. In fact, up to 45% of cases of dementia can be avoided with simple lifestyle changes like staying active and challenging your brain.
What is the Big Brain Challenge?
The Big Brain Challenge is a puzzle-packed trail that begins at Santander Work Café and winds its way around town. It takes 1-2 hours to complete on foot. Perfect for half term, it is open from 19th May to 13th June 2025.
This is a scavenger hunt with a difference.
All you need is a smartphone and enthusiasm!
How to take part!
- Start at Santander Work Café in town
- Find and then scan the big brain themed QR codes in numerical order
- Reveal the clue to the next location
- Collect the pink letters to make a mystery phrase to submit at the end of the challenge.
Not only will participants gain valuable knowledge and have some fun, but they’ll also have the chance to win an e-bike – generously donated by Lakeys.
Those who take part can also enjoy a lucky dip at Dementia Jersey’s office during opening hours (Monday – Friday, 10am-4pm). Not only that, but after completion you can take advantage of a generous 25% discount on bike maintenance (not including parts) from Lakey’s.
How tricky is it?
The questions are designed to be suited for various ages to keep everyone interested.
Not feeling too mobile? Don’t worry, the route is solely based in St Helier, and you don’t have to do it all in one go.
So head to Santander Work Café to start the fun!
